Hurricane Bill

The first hurricane of the 2009 Atlantic season strengthened into a Category 4 storm on Wednesday with maximum sustained winds near 135 mph (215 kmh), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. At 5 a.m. EST/0900 GMT, Bill's center was about 460 miles (740km) east of the Leeward Islands and moving west-northwest at 16 mph (26 kmh).
